Over my career I’ve been a government executive, technology operator, policy expert, investor, nonprofit builder, and educator. The common thread is helping institutions make ambitious ideas work across sectors — especially when the stakeholders, incentives, and consequences are complex.

As San Jose's first Chief Innovation Officer, I spearheaded a digital transformation for city hall and launched public private partnerships with Silicon Valley's most innovative companies. Secured $500M in private infrastructure investment to create a $24M Digital Inclusion Fund and built the city's open data and privacy framework, laying the groundwork for the nation's leading municipal AI governance frameworks.

My work inside tech companies like Zillow, Nextdoor, and Plenty gives me real-world operating experience on how to align commercial incentives and public benefits — working directly with CEOs and corporate boards. At Zillow I led Public Affairs and sat on the AI ethics committee, at Nextdoor I founded and launched the corporate foundation and grant program, and at Plenty I paved the way for a high tech facility build in Compton.

I've testified before Congress, sat on the FCC's National Broadband Advisory Board, and presented original research on the digital divide globally in international forums like the United Nations. My experience working with media and advocating for digital equity globally helps me understand how to drive narratives to shift the conversation in the media and policy circles.
